1st Step - Research and Innovation

Working on ‘project smile’ we were very much aware of the menstrual health problem (social and financial) that every school girls have to go through. We created a team 3 female student from NIFT to understand the problem and talk to school girls, 2 IIM students to look into the business and finance to help more girls.

Step 2 - Funding and community

We started working with different social influencers and community to collect fund for the development of the product and source of raw material. We were joined by 5 amazing women (Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, Aditi Raval, Sainee Raj, Punya Suri and Sanaya Polishwala) who helped us to raise funds.

Step 3 - Product Development

We collaborated with more than 5 company ( for organic cotton, Bamboo fabric, Hemp fabric, PUL fabric, manufacturing factory at Ahmedabad) to develop reusable sanitary pad with the help of 2 students from NIFT and one research fellow at IIT.

Step 4 - Patnership and Distribution

We have provided our product to an NGO (Himalayan hemp) based in Rajasthan. They are working with the government and tribal area to provide sanitary pad at a very low price. HimalayanHemp – (http://www.himalyanhemp.in) Building a distribution network from scratch is very time and resource-intensive. So to make our system efficient by partnering with different NGO’s, groups and governments to provide them with the product for free of cost that they can then distribute to the girls who need help. This helps us to focus on research and innovation part.
